Although we had read or watched things about Thanksgiving since our childhood, our first Thanksgiving was nowhere near the traditional American way.
For our first Thanksgiving (first year of college), we went to a Chinese Restaurant for a hot pot lunch with our cousin and his friends. Hot pot is a pot of stock cooking in the middle of the table and you put sliced meat, seafood, leaf vegetables and mushrooms in the pot to cook.
It was both our first Thanksgiving and first hot pot! They do not perfectly match but when you are international you are also intercultural!
